More than 25 vendors are scheduled to attend the Jan. 24 Job, Health and Educational Fair at Brush Creek Community Center, 3801 Emanuel Cleaver Blvd.

Sponsored by the City of Kansas City, Mo., Aim4Peace program, the fair is free of charge and open to the public.

“Our goal with this event is to decrease the stress that leads to violence by increasing access to jobs, health services and educational opportunities in the community,” said Tracie McClendon-Cole, manager of Aim4Peace.

Employers that will be present include  Allied Waste, Ameristar Casino Hotel, Career Advisor, Cartwright Companies, FedEx Ground, Stivers Staffing Services, Transformed Barber & Cosmetology Academy, and UPS Inc., among others.

A number of schools will also be on site and will include the Kansas City Art Institute, DeVry University and Metropolitan Community College Kansas City – Penn Valley, among others. Representatives from the schools will speak with prospective students about enrollment, programs and degree paths.

Attendees can also receive free health care screenings and information which will be provided by the city’s Health Department, the Black Health Care Coalition, Children’s Mercy Hospital – Healthy Start and the Penn Valley Student Nursing Program.

The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 24.
