KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Absentee voting has officially begun for the August 2 primary election.

According to a June 21 press release from the Kansas City Board of Election Commissioners, registered voters in Missouri can vote absentee if they meet one of the following five requirements:

– Will be absent from their voting jurisdiction on Election Day

– Are incapacitated or confined due to illness or physical disability, or caring for an incapacitated person

– Are restricted by religious belief or practice

– Are employed by an election authority

– Are incarcerated, but have retained all voting qualifications

– Certified participation in the address confidentiality (SAFE at Home) program established under sections 589.660 or 589.681 because of safety concerns

Voters who qualify can either fill out an absentee ballot in-person at Union Station ((30 W. Pershing Road, Suite 2800) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Monday, August 1, or send in their absentee ballot by mail. An application form must be submitted to KCEB in order to send in a mail-in vote. Those can be found at www.kceb.org, or by calling (816) 842-4820, ext. 224. Ballots cast by mail must be received by the Election Board no later than 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2. The KCEB office will also be open for absentee voting on Saturday, July 30, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
