Who da thunk it?
When Spring Training opened last February, this lil news-pooch gave the Kansas City Royals no chance of makin’ the World Series. But make the Series they did, and in grand fashion. Red Friday is Red Friday but the month of October in Kansas City was decidedly Blue and this lil baseball lovin news-dog loved every minute of it.
We could have done without the slobbering man-love Fox Sports announcer Joe Buck had for ace Giants hurler Madison Bumgarner. Buck said Bumgarner’s name over 80 times during game 7 alone.
That aside, the whole post-season ride by the Royals sparked some pretty serious city-wide spirit not seen since the ’85 Series with the boys from the other side of the state. The roller coaster ride that was the 2014 Royals season was gut wrenching and awe inspiring all at the same time and right down to the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 7.
This news canine was around for the ’85 Series and the buzz this time around was bigger and better than ever. Change, however, is inevitable and it looks as if some players will be departing for greener pastures. It didn’t take long for Royals management to show they’re all about the budget and not so much about keeping a winning team on the field. Baseball after all is a business. But we’re gonna milk every drop of this 2014 Royals season. Thanks guys – awesome ride.
