Dear District,
You are receiving this letter because I know that you take your right to vote seriously, and that you have a strong interest in your community. Because of that, I want to share some important information about the upcoming elections and helpful resources.
As you know, we are in very uncertain times right now. As I write this letter, our country has just surpassed every other country in the number of confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus, and you can’t escape the message that the most effective and possibly the only way we will be able to contain it and stop spreading it is to stay home and stridently avoid having contact with other people. If you are like me, this feels completely unnatural, and at times, disorienting. For some of us, our entire livelihoods are being eroded. The objective of this letter is to share with you reliable resources for information. In the interest of being frugal, I am sending this to constituents whom I know are active voters with the request that you pass the information along to neighbors and friends.
Election Information:
Calling it a “necessary step to help combat the spread of the virus and protect the health and safety of Missouri voters,” Governor Parson has ordered all Missouri municipal elections, previously scheduled for April 7, 2020, to be postponed to June 2, 2020. You are still able to vote absentee, and the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is May 20th. In-person absentee ballots may be cast until 5 p.m. on June 1st, and the deadline for absentee ballots to be received by the election authority is 7 p.m. on June 2nd. You must have been registered to vote by March 11 to be able to vote in this election. The office of the Missouri Secretary of State and your local Election Boards can provide more information.

At this time, the August Primary Election is still scheduled for August 4, 2020, and that is when I will be on the ballot of the Democratic ticket.
The enclosed card is for you to stick on your refrigerator or give to a friend. It lists some agencies where you can get more information about specific concerns. Hopefully, you already know that drivers’ license and vehicle license plates deadlines for March and April have been extended, as has the deadline for filing your income tax. Your licenses are extended for 60 days, and your income tax is due July 15. Some regulations have also been lifted on unemployment benefits, food assistance benefits, and medicaid assistance, depending on certain qualifications. As always, you can contact my office if you need additional help at 573-751-3310, where messages are being monitored and responded to by my office staff.
I want you to know that even in these sometimes trying times, it has been an immense honor and an immeasurable pleasure to be called your State Representative. Thank you for your trust and confidence!
All the best!
Ingrid Burnett
