This streetwise newspooch got a chance to chat with a couple of Kansas City’s bravest over the weekend at the annual Open House held at Kansas City’s Harley Davidson Final Assembly Plant up north.

KCPD Unit 690 pilot Sgt. Tony Mack was there as part of the department’s public relations role.

Unit 690 is the police helicopter, known to some as the Inner City Air Force.

We thanked him for his dedicated service to our area.

Hopefully we’ll be able to snare a ride along in the near future for an upcoming editorial feature.

The list of police chief finalists is out and this pooch doesn’t hold much optimism for Northeast Kansas City’s interests being represented by the city’s top cop.

Present Chief Jim Corwin promised the moon to Northeast neighborhoods and even had a solid base in the area prior to his promotion to the chief’s position.

But soon after his appointment, he made it painfully obvious he would make Kansas City a sanctuary city in more ways than one.

The “judge and jury” mindset Corwin brought to the chair needs to go the way of all drain water and in short order.

Nothing will change in urban neighborhoods as long as prostitutes, loiterers and scofflaws are allowed to practice their craft with immunity from arrest and prosecution.

And kiss goodbye to any kind of business renaissance along the Avenue at the same time.

Start arresting and properly prosecuting the village idiots and watch positive change take hold.

Until then, guess we just better schedule another meetin’.
