After 11 years of sitting vacant, we can hardly believe there may be a chance of something viable at the former Hardesty Federal Complex.

The online auction is now closed and the rumored high bid is in the $500,000 range.

We hope the condition of the property won’t scare the renowned developer away and that he’ll develop the property into something worthwhile for Northeast.

On another note, we were appalled to find out that the Kansas City, Missouri School District discovered mold in a classroom in the East High School annex.

KCMSD officials say it’s possible the mold has been sitting there for 10 years! They called it “old growth.”

The problem is fixed now. But our question is, how did KCMSD not discover this earlier? And how did it affect previous students?

This li’l newshound has sniffed out many things, but sure wouldn’t want to be exposed to the hazards of mold days on end.

Hopefully, KCMSD will be more on top of its maintenance in the future.

Ending with a positive, we’re sure thankful to be getting a break from the heat!
