Auditions for Kansas City’s haunted houses
Audition to scare customers at The Beast and the Edge of Hell. Auditions start Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and will be held again Thursday at the same time at The Beast, 1401 W. 13th St., Kansas City, Mo.
Hard hat tours
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., will host the free tours on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Preschool Story Time
Bring your preschooler to the Kansas City Museum for the preschool story time. Your children will learn how quilts keep us warm, decorate walls and even tell stories. Story time begins at 10:30 a.m. at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., and cost is free.
Free swim gets hot
Hot 103 Jamz will broadcast live from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Budd Park Pool, 1500 Benton Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Cool off in the pool for free and enjoy the great music.
La Chalupa Farmers Market
Mattie Rhodes Center (MRC) hosts a weekly Farmer’s Market, La Chalupa, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with fresh and local produce from area farmers. MRC has partnered with Kansas City Beans & Greens to provide the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to double the dollar on each Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) purchase.

Northeast Farmers Market
Don Bosco Centers is hosting the Northeast Farmers Market, which features fresh fruits and vegetables grown by New Roots for Refugees Farmers. The farmers market will be held every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. outside the former charter high school at Independence Avenue and Garfield.
Summer Concert Series
Check out the Kansas City Museum’s Summer Concert Series at 7 p.m. at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Follow the jazz melodies of the Doug Talley Quartet. Concert is free of charge.

National Farmers’ Market Celebration
In celebration of National Farmers’ Market Week, Chipotle Mexican Grill will give the first 1,000 adults at their booth a $5 wooden token to spend with farmers in the City Market Square, 5th and Walnut. Tokens are only valid until 3 p.m. the same day.

EMPOWER Kidney Disease Classes

Hawgs ‘n History
Shine up the ol’ chrome pony and join the Kansas City Museum for the second Hawgs n History ride this year from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 20. Cost is $25. Led by historian and Harley Davidson enthusiast Michael Bushnell, riders will travel up to the Jesse James Farm where they’ll try and separate fact from fiction about the infamous James family. Riders will roll just south of Kearney to Liberty and explore the sight of the first daylight, peacetime bank robbery at the Jesse James Bank Museum. Finally, riders will get to see a rare early 20th century custom made bike and several other custom choppers at the Art of the Chopper exhibit at Union Station. Meet at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo.
Ethnic Enrichment Festival
Check out the 32nd Annual Ethnic Enrichment Festival at Swope Park August 19-21. There will be food, crafts and 65 countries’ cultures represented with a booth, displays and food. Hours for the event begin at 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Costs is $3 for adults. Children 12 and under are free. Parking is also free.
