A driver of a Ford F-150 crashed into a house in the 400 block of North Drury Avenue over the weekend, destroying the front porch.

The truck was headed south on North Drury about 10:30 p.m. Friday when it struck a parked car, then left the roadway, heading toward 428 N. Drury Ave., where it stopped after crashing into the front porch.

The homeowner told police he witnessed the driver and the passenger trade seats after the accident, then the passenger tried to drive the truck away. However, it was stuck with wheels spinning, so the men fled on foot. The homeowner tried to chase the driver, described as a Hispanic man in his 20s or 30s of average height and slightly overweight, but was unable to catch him.

Another witness stated he recognized the driver because he had seen him running south on Drury earlier that day.

Police canvassed the area and conducted a residence check, to no avail.
