Hard hat tours
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., will host the free tours on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Night Out Against Crime
Join Mattie Rhodes Center in a Night Out Against Crime from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Concourse Park located at Benton Boulevard and St. John Ave. The event is in conjunction with National Night Out Against Crime, a nationwide public safety and anti-crime campaign. Activities will include a free soccer clinic, free food, child fingerprinting by the Jackson County Sheriffs Department and information booths with local organizations. All are invited to attend.

La Chalupa Farmers Market
Mattie Rhodes La Chalupa Farmers Market will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature locally grown produce. The farmers market will be held every Thursday at the Mattie Rhodes Center, 148 N. Topping Ave., Kansas City, Mo. SNAP/EBT cards will be accepted.

Don Bosco Centers is hosting the Northeast Farmers Market, which features fresh fruits and vegetables grown by New Roots for Refugees Farmers. The farmers market will be held every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. outside the former charter high school at Independence Avenue and Garfield.

Summer Fiesta at North-East Public Library
Come celebrate the end of the summer reading program with a fiesta at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., Kansas City, Mo. Fiesta starts at 10:30 a.m.

Youth Arts: Spinning fiber into yarn
Learn how to turn wool and other fibers into yarn using drop spindles. Youth ages six and up are invited to attend this free workshop at North-East Public Library at 1:30 p.m. Parent participation is encouraged.

First Sunday Family Fun Day at the Museum
Learn about the first Bomb Pop ever invented on Kansas City’s own Independence Avenue. Today, the Bomb Pop is one of the most popular frozen confections ever created. Families can visit the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., from noon to 4 p.m. to make their own serving of ice cream to sample, play ice cream themed games, try a snow cone and more.

Hawgs ‘n History
Shine up the ol’ chrome pony and join the Kansas City Museum for the second Hawgs ‘n History ride this year from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 20. Cost is $25. Led by historian and Harley Davidson enthusiast Michael Bushnell, riders will travel up to the Jesse James Farm where they’ll try and separate fact from fiction about the infamous James family. Riders will roll just south of Kearney to Liberty and explore the site of the first daylight, peacetime bank robbery at the Jesse James Bank Museum. Finally, riders will get to see a rare early 20th Century custom made bike and several other custom choppers at the Art of the Chopper exhibit at Union Station.
