Mattie Rhodes Center is taking a stand against crime.

In conjunction with the National Night Out Against Crime, Mattie Rhodes’ Latino Advocacy Taskforce (LAT) is hosting its own Night Out Against Crime at Concourse Park Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Last year, more than 15,000 communities across the U.S. participated in National Night Out to increase awareness of crime and drug prevention and strengthen partnerships between communities and law enforcement.

During the Aug. 3 event, LAT will provide information on how to make homes and families safer, reporting crime and working with law enforcement, youth programming and social services.

Activities will include a free soccer clinic, free food, child fingerprinting compliments of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, a fire department pumper truck to keep attendees cool and giveaways.

Other organizations on hand will include the Kansas City Fire Department, Kansas City Police Department, Kansas City, Missouri School District, Crime Stoppers, Aim4Peace, Office of Community Complaints, CCO, LNESC, Rose Brooks Center, Samuel Rodgers Health Center, Don Bosco Center, among other partners.

All are invited to attend this free event.
