The Northeast High School Alumni Association honored 10 past teachers, coaches and administrators at an event this past Friday in Kansas City.

Those honored included: principal Stephen Brown, vice principal Samuel McCormick, coach Rita Mabin, teacher Duane Kelly, principal Judy Morgan, band director Reginald May, principal Theresia Gilyard, teacher Sharon McIntosh, teacher Opal Cushon and assistant band director Gary Thomas.

The Northeast Alumni Committee chose the 2010 recipients for their outstanding leadership, ability to shape and mold their students and inspire them to be the best.

“There are just too many educators to thank,” alumnus Johnnie Wilson said. “It’s just a blessing to have spent the most important years of my live with such devoted, inspiring mentors. We simply had to find away to say thank you, and we will never forget you.”
