One man is dead and a second was injured in a shooting that occured Saturday afternoon in Pendleton Heights.

At around 4:15 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Maple Boulevard on reports of shots being fired into a vehicle.

Officers learned the vehicle that was shot into had fled the scene of the crime. Shortly afterwards, officers were called to a crime scene near Smart and Bales in the Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood on reports of a shooting.

On arrival, they located two men who had been shot. One of the men was unresponsive inside the vehicle, the second man had exited the vehicle.

The unresponsive victim died at the scene, and the second victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

UPDATE: The victim of yesterday’s shooting has been identified as a 22 year old man named David C. Crowell. Detectives have identified subjects of interest in this death, which has been ruled a homicide, and police are working with prosecutors to share evidence that may lead to arrests and criminal charges.
