Monday evening just after 11:30 pm KCPD officers responded to  Independence Avenue west of Montgall regarding a collision involving a pedestrian.

Initial investigation determined that a westbound Honda sedan struck a pedestrian as he was crossing the street.  The driver of the Honda, after stopping briefly at the scene, left westbound on Independence Avenue, but was stopped by officers on Interstate 35 near Charlotte shortly afterward.

The pedestrian, identified as a 40 year old KCMO man, was transported to an area hospital, where he was most recently listed as serious/stable.

The driver, identified as a 28 year old Kansas City woman, was taken into custody. Impairment is under investigation.
