Community crime meetings
Community members are continuing to meet every Wednesday at noon at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd. The group brings neighborhood safety concerns together and forwards them to the police department. All are welcome.

Green Art Day (rescheduled)
Green Art Day will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Concourse Park, Historic Northeast. A variety of green-themed activities will be available, including painting and decorating trash barrels, a flower pot craft, among other activities. Performance artists are also slated to perform.

Chalk Walk
Now in its fourth year, Chalk Walk will be held at Concourse Park, 200 Benton Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This free, family friendly event allows attendees to join local professional and amateur artists in decorating sidewalks along the Concourse. Other activities will include Radio Disney, kite flying, a tent full of children’s activities, street performers, live music, among other activities. The Hunt
Calvary Temple Church is hosting “The Hunt,” an Easter egg hunt for the entire family. Church volunteers will hide 2,500 eggs and the event will also include free candy, free hot dogs and music. The Hunt begins at 1 p.m. at Budd Park.

Christ’s Journey to the Cross
Sheffield Family Life Center Church, 5700 Winner Rd., will present a live, re-enactment of Christ’s dramatic journey to the cross accompanied by several actors and actresses portraying the mob that consented to his crucifixion. The event will begin prior to both church services at 8:15 a.m. for the 9 a.m. service and again at 10:15 a.m. for the 11 a.m. service. The route will begin on Independence Avenue, travel on White Street and then down Winner Road to the front doors of the church.

Where’s the Money?
Learn how to effectively budget your money as part of Money Smart Month. Learn about new ways to spend, save and borrow. Sponsored by Central Bank of Kansas City, the free event will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Central Bank of Kansas City, 2301 Independence Blvd.

EMPOWER Kidney Disease Classes
Free EMPOWER Kidney Disease classes are available on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The April 26 class will be held at Johnson County Central Library, Overland Park, Kan. The classes teach attendees how to take control of kidney disease and make healthy choices. Call (816) 842-0076 to register.

NEKC Chamber plans trip to Lawrence
NEKC Chamber is planning an educational trip to Lawrence Friday, April 29. Cost is $35 and includes transportation and dinner. The trip is designed to give attendees ideas on how to transform Independence Avenue into a more attractive area for visitors.
