Guadalupe Centers, Inc., annual Thanksgiving luncheon
The Guadalupe Centers, Inc. (GCI) catering staff and many dedicated volunteers are expecting to serve 2,200 thanksgiving meals to GCI client participants, including our students and their parents; senior adults and our social service clients at its Guadalupe Centers, Inc. Administrative Building, 1015 Avenida Cesar E. Chavez. This luncheon will also be free and open to the community with the most need, made possible through food donations by US Foods. Times: 10 – 10:45 a.m. for Plaza de Niños Preschool & Parents 11 – 11:45 a.m. for seniors Noon – 3 p.m. for the community.

Walk with ease club
At 9:30 a.m. at the North-East Library, this six-week course will teach participants how to walk and stretch safely, increase flexibility, and improve balance. Weekly incentives will be given to participants. Learn how walking can improve your fitness and help manage your arthritis pain.
My Kansas City: the Heritage & Legacy of the Historic Northeast
This exhibition explores the important history of Kansas City’s Historic Northeast neighborhoods and its long-awaited renaissance. As one of Kansas City’s oldest areas, the Historic Northeast’s past includes legendary, lively stories and shared memories of magnates, immigrants, mansions, ethnic businesses, and more. From culturally diverse neighborhoods, active residents, and visionary leaders to iconic monuments and beautiful natural resources, the Historic Northeast has deep historical significance for Kansas City—and the resilience and creativity of its neighborhoods is a beacon for the future. The exhibition is located in the Museum’s Carriage House and is on display through Jan. 16, 2016. Exhibition Tours are free and self-guided from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.
Kansas City libraries
All Library locations will close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25th and remain closed all day on Thursday, November 26th for Thanksgiving.

Computer Class
Join North-East Public Library for class on the fundamentals of Microsoft Word which will focus on templates as well as the various menu options. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the library, 6000 Wilson Rd.
Communiversity Spanish Class
Join the North-East Public Library at 10 a.m. to learn how to speak conversational Spanish.
Northeast Artists Pop-Up Placemaking
Curator Rebecca Koop presents a display of artworks and programs by artists who live in the Northeast and who are contributing to its neighborhood renaissance. This exhibit runs until Saturday, Nov. 28.

LeonMercer Jordan CampusEastPatrol Division and Regional Crime Lab ribbon cutting and open house
Join city officials in celebrating the opening of the new Leon Mercer Jordan Campus East Patrol Division and Regional Crime Lab. The ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony is from 1 – 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 2640 Prospect Ave. Campus tours are 1 – 3 p.m. and 4:30-6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Kansas City Museum’s Holiday Gathering
Join the Kansas City Museum from 5:30 – 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, for its annual neighborhood holiday party. Meet the 2015 Fairy Princesses and enjoy a stellar performance by the Lyric Opera. The evening includes food, beverages, holiday lights, and lots of merriment! Irma Starr’s commemorative limited-edition Fairy Princess ornaments will be on sale for a special price. Knights of Columbus dinner and bingo
Knights of Columbus #4613 will host an upcoming dinner and bingo night from 5 – 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 in St. Joseph’s Hall at St. Anthony’s Church, 3208 Lexington Ave. Dinner runs from 5 – 7 p.m. with a menu including barbecue turkey, beef, barbecue beans and coleslaw for only $6. Dinner runs from 7 – 9 p.m.
Holiday homes tour
From noon – 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, head over to Pendleton Heights for the ninth annual Pendleton Heights Homes Tour and Artist Market. The festivities start at Scuola Vita Nuova Charter School, 535 Garfield Ave., where you’ll check in and get your map and booklet. Then, check out the five open houses on the tour. Learn a little about Kansas City history, perhaps see some things you’ve never seen before, and grab a bite to eat. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. All proceeds benefit Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association and Scuola Vita Nuova.

Join the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 13, to explore traditional celebrations from other cultures around the world. Learn about holidays in places such as Somalia, Mexico, Chad, and Ireland through games, crafts, activities, and more. Open to all ages.
