KANSAS CITY Missouri — Following the success of the inaugural festival, the Buskers are returning to the City Market.
Buskers are street performers who entertain market visitors. From 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13, the City Market presents Busker Festival, a celebration of street-style entertainment that’s fresh, free, freaky and fun for all ages.
Two performance areas in City Market Square will showcase multiple performers with a variety of unusual talents including stilt walkers, dancers, comedians, aerial acrobats, fire jugglers, hoopers and more. Kids can try their hand at bucket drumming, theater games and circus tricks during teaching demonstrations from Kansas City’s Young Audiences, and Odd Ball Kids will be on site to engage their inner artists.
The City Market is known as an incubator for unique entertainers; it’s where Busker Festival performer Jason Divad began.
“Growing up, the City Market was one of these few spots where I was able to entertain, learn, interact and make some hat money,” Divad says. “Now I make a living doing what I love.”
