New Beginnings, New Dreams
Join the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center for its New Beginnings, New Dreams event to celebrate the completion of the new center. The event will be at 6:30 p.m. at 825 Euclid Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Attendees are asked to wear cocktail or business attire. Net proceeds will help offset the cost of ongoing, quality health care for low income individuals and families.

Story-Time and Craft
Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. This story time group promotes literacy in children with the participation of caring family members.

Community Block Watch Training
Join KCPD Officer Jason Cooley and others to learn how your neighborhood can start its own block watch program. Training will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 14, at Southeast Community Center, 4201 E. 63rd St., Kansas City, Mo.

Kansas City Tweed Ride
Don some tweed and late 19th Century and early 20th Century period clothing for the Kansas City Tweed Ride. The five-mile leisurely bicycle ride will take attendees along Cliff Drive and through some of Kansas City’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods. Prizes will be given for best bicycle and best dressed. Meet at the Colonnade, St. John Avenue and Gladstone Boulevard, at 10 a.m. Bicycle ride begins at 11 a.m.

Coffee with the City Manager
Kansas City Manager Troy Schulte will be having coffee with Northeast residents at 9:30 a.m. at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Bring your issues and concerns.

PAL Fish Fry
The Police Athletic League will host a fish fry at 1801 White from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 14. This is a great opportunity to meet the officers assigned to the unit and learn about the programming they provide for youth. Proceeds will help fund youth programs like basketball, football, cheerleading, gardening, track and more.

Hard hat tours
Take a 90-minute tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old  old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family, with Kansas City Museum Director Christopher Leitch. Meet at the Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Tour begins at 12:30 p.m. and cost is $5. Advance registration is required.

Knights of Columbus Monthly Breakfast
Check out the Knights of Columbus Monthly Breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Anthony Church – St. Joseph Hall, 3028 Lexington, Kansas City, Mo. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 8-12.

Karaoke, Bingo and Country Jams
Join Knights of Columbus Council 4613 for a night of karaoke, bingo and country jams on Friday, April 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Parish-St. Joseph Hall, 3028 Lexington, Kansas City, Mo. Food will also be served at a reasonable price.

Friday Night Family Fun
Join the Kansas City Museum on April 20 for a fun-filled evening of transportation games and crafts. Local musician Emily Tummons will also be singing transportation songs as part of the program. Learn about different modes of transportation, like hot air balloons and trains. It all begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Plaza Branch Public Library, 4801 Main Street, Kansas City, Mo.

Color the World
Della Lamb Community Services will host its 18th annual dinner and auction, “Color the World” on Saturday, April 28, at the Kansas City Downtown Marriott – Muehlebach Tower Imperial Ballroom at 12th and Wyandotte. Cocktails and silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. A program and live auction will be held at 8:15 p.m. Special appearances by the Della Lamb Children’s Choir and Quixotic Fusion. Bike Safety Rodeo
The Bike Safety Rodeo, Health and Financial Fair will be held at Budd Park, 4925 St. John Ave., Kansas City, Mo., Saturday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Two-hundred fifty bike helmets and 250 T-shirts will be given to the first children in attendance. There will also be inflatables and raffle prizes.

Northeast Chalk Walk
Northeast’s Chalk Walk will be held Saturday, April 28, and Sunday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Concourse in Kessler Park, St. John Avenue and Benton Boulevard. This free, family-friendly event is a public sidewalk chalk drawing festival that celebrates the wealth and culture and diversity in the Kansas City urban core. Proceeds raised by Chalk Walk will benefit Northeast Arts KC, an arts outreach organization.
