Hard hat tours
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family.  Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., will now host the free tours on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Senior Thursday

Independence Plaza Neighborhood meeting
Independence Plaza Neighborhood Council, Inc. will host its next meeting on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. in the basement of the City Union Mission’s New Life Center Building, 1301 Olive. Forest Decker  will lead the discussion on the process for renaming one of Independence Plaza’s parks. Snacks will be provided. Everyone is welcome to attend. Bring a friend. Pendleton Heights Talk
The National Archives at Kansas City will host Kent Dicus, past president of the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association, on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 6:30 p.m. for a discussion of the book “Pendleton Heights: Then and Now, First Suburb of Kansas City.” Dicus will be available to sign copies of the book after the discussion.  A 6 p.m. reception will precede the event. This event is presented in partnership with the Kansas City Museum.

Beads, Beans & Beers Fundraiser
Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Beads, Beans & Beers fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Askew Inn, 3600 Independence Ave. RSVP for tickets at (816) 231-3312 or nekcchamber@aol.com. Tickets are $10 and includes beads, red beans and rice, and one beer. Tickets can be picked up at the door.  A live auction will begin at 7 p.m. Come in Mardi Gras costume and compete for the king and queen prize!

Pool Tournament at AJ’s Bar
Check out AJ’s Bar, 2618 Independence Ave., on Feb. 18 for a pool tournament and taco dinner! It all begins at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $10 and pays for 1st and 2nd place prizes. Tacos are only $1.

Wounds that Heal Art Exhibit
Newhouse domestic violence shelter is hosting a fundraiser from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Leopold Gallery, 324 W. 63rd St., Kansas City, Mo. Enjoy a night of art, healing and hope! The event will include hope-inspired artwork by local artists, poetry, a silent auction and refreshments.  A $10 donation is suggested. NE Chamber and the Mavericks
Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is trying something different by having an outing at the March 2 Missouri Mavericks game. Game starts at 7:05 p.m. The Chamber has 20 tickets that are being held and tickets are $20 each. Payment is due Feb. 21.
