KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Do you have an idea for a project that would improve the Northeast?

The Public Improvements Advisory Committee (PIAC) is inviting residents to voice their ideas at a series of neighborhood hearings this June and July. PIAC funds are used for flood control, storm drainage, street resurfacing, bridge repairs, traffic signals, tree trimming and planting and improvements to parks and trails.

PIAC comprises 13 members-two residents from each council district and a chairperson-who are appointed by the mayor and the Kansas City City Council. PIAC will use public input from the hearings to make recommendations to the city council regarding both the citywide and neighborhood portions of the Fiscal Year 2015-16 capital budget. Project funding comes from the one-cent sales tax for public improvements.

Residents may also suggest a project by filling out a form at www.kcmo.gov/piac or call 816-513-2826 for a paper form. The deadline to submit a suggestion is Aug. 31, 2014.
