Dear Editor,

I was deeply disturbed by your recent editorial, “Due Process is Over-rated.” While vigorously defending the rights of the yet-to-be-arrested veteran Ferguson Missouri Police Officer, you neglected to mention that this officer served as judge, jury, and executioner for an unarmed teenager. Where was Michael Brown’s due process?

While vigorously arguing for white justice, you never named Michael Brown, but dismissed him as local thug, attempting to justify his killing. You raised concern for the officer and his family mental anguish of taking a life. At the same time, you denied the reasonable outrage of specific demographic whose basic constitutional rights were violated throughout the protests following the shooting. You failed to acknowledge that this is not an isolated incident, but a complex, systemic problem. I imagine that you also dismiss the other “local thug” with names like Jordan Davis, John Crawford, Trayvon Martin, Kimani Gray, or Sean Bell?
