On Tuesday evening at approximately 10:45 PM, Kansas City Missouri police officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Independence Avenue on a sound of shots call. 

Upon arrival officers located the body of a black male on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim  was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Witnesses at the scene indicated to officers that they heard shots fired and an unknown vehicle fled the scene afterwards.

Detectives will be interviewing witnesses Crime Scene investigators will be processing the scene for evidence.
