The Kansas City, Mo., Health Department is now offering free Human Papilloma Virus vaccine for 19-to-25-year-old males and females. The HPV vaccine is a series of three shots over six months and can help prevent certain cancers and genital warts.

“We are able to start at least 600 people in the vaccine program through this September,” said Ron Griffin, manager of the Communicable Disease Prevention and Public Health Preparedness Division. “The sooner young adults are vaccinated, the sooner they are protected. Normal costs per shot can range from $60 to $165 or even more.”

To schedule an appointment, call the Health Department at 816-513-6152.

Any person with a disability who desires reasonable accommodation for these services may contact the City’s 311 Call Center at 311 or 816-513-1313, or for TTY, 816-513-1889.
