Detectives have two people of interest in custody in the fatal shooting of a woman in the parking lot of 7-Eleven, 2636 Van Brunt Blvd., Monday just after 11 a.m.
Charges were filed in the case Wednesday afternoon. Nineteen-year-old Jovon Burrell was charged with second-degree murder. In addition to many other pieces of evidence, he posted on Facebook about the victim’s death.
Monday morning officers were dispatched to the scene, where they located an unresponsive female on the ground suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim, an adult black female, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. She has since been identified as 20-year-old Diamon Eichelburger.
Police confirmed Wednesday that Eichelburger had been pregnant when she died, but do not know how far along she was, pending an autopsy.
Witnesses said they saw an unknown vehicle drive up and shoot the victim while she was pushing a baby girl in a stroller.
On Tuesday, police updated the case and now believe the child is under the age of two. The baby appeared to be uninjured, but was checked out at an area hospital.
Crime scene investigators processed the scene for any evidence that will help detectives in this investigation.
