On July 19, representatives from Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will be at City Union Mission’s Christian Life Center to assist in the online application process, hoping to fill 60 job openings with MoDOT.  This event is open to anyone in the Kansas City community in need of a job.

MoDOT will start hiring maintenance personnel for winter operations and more. Right now, there are over 60 full-time maintenance and emergency equipment operator positions available in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area and surrounding counties. Hourly salaries range from $14.75 to $16.62 per hour, depending on level of experience and area of operation. Opportunities for year-round employment include mowing, striping, and other maintenance functions to keep Missouri roads safe for all who travel on them.

“We want to get the word out,” Chief Executive Officer Dr. Terry Megli said.  “The Mission is excited to be able to offer our facilities for this event at a time when so many are looking for jobs. This will not only offer employment opportunities to those in our shelters, but also, to anyone in the community that would like to come down and go through the application process.”

Full-time maintenance employees receive full training and a long list of other benefits. Applicants need to be at least 18 years old, have a Class B CDL permit (written portion), and successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screening.

When: Monday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Where: City Union Mission’s Christian Life Center, 1111 E. 10th Street, KCMO 64106

Parking is available to the west of the building, inside the fenced entrance off 11th Street.

“The folks in Kansas City have supported the work of City Union Mission for nearly 100 years, and we want to always be conscientious in keeping our eyes and ears open to ways that we can support the community in any way we can.” Megli said.
