KANSAS CITY, Missouri – If you’re going to be downtown this weekend, you’ll want to avoid the northwest corner of the downtown loop.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70 at Broadway Blvd. will be closed from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22 until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, in order for crews to remove the out-of-use railroad bridge. During this time, drivers are encouraged to avoid this area by utilizing the southwest corner of the downtown loop.
Portions of I-35 northbound and southbound will also close during the demolition, in addition to several ramps. The ramps to be affected include: 12th Street ramp to I-35, US 169 ramp to northbound I-35, Southbound MO 9 ramp to southbound I-35, Troost Avenue ramp westbound US 24, Westbound US 24 ramp to southbound I-35, Northbound US 169 ramp to southbound I-35, and I-70 to southbound I-35. After demolition and cleanup is complete, all lanes and ramp will reopen. The work could be completed before Monday, but all lanes will be open by 5:00 a.m. on April 25.
