Mattie Rhodes Center health clinic
The Northeast location of the Mattie Rhodes Center (148 N. Topping) opens its evening health clinic, named La Clinica, every Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. No appointments needed, but care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Retirement toast for Claudia Visnich
North-East Public Library branch manager Claudia Visnich is retiring, and the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is planning to honor her at its headquarters (2657 Independence Blvd.) on Thursday, March 29 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. A champagne toast and cake will be provided at 6 p.m.

Tech Coach Drop-in at Northeast Library
Stop by the North-East Branch of the Kansas City Public Library on Thursday, March 29 from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. to speak with a technology coach. The coaches will help with whatever technology questions you have–from building a resume to building a website. No appointment necessary; patrons can use library computers or bring in their own device.

Chair Fitness
The North-East Public Library Branch (6000 Wilson Rd.) will host a chair fitness class on Friday, March 30, beginning at 9:30 a.m. No matter what your limitations, you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to offer a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.

Urban Youth Academy Grand Opening
The grand opening of the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy (1622 E 17th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64108) will be held on Saturday, March 31, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event will feature a ‘Community Day of Play and Open House’ with highlights including a college softball game between UMKC and New Mexico State, youth baseball & softball instructional stations, appearances by Sluggerrr, KayCee and the Easter Bunny, and family fun including face painters, a balloon twister, a caricature artist and more.

Annual Easter Hunt at the Concourse
The Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association’s annual Easter Egg Hunt at The Concourse will be held on Saturday, March 31, beginning at 10 a.m. There will be three hunts separated by age group. The eggs go fast, so arrive on time to guarantee participation.

Central Library: Movies that mean business series
The Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library will continue it’s ‘Movies That Mean Business’ series on Saturday, March 31 at 1:30 p.m. with a screening of Startup.com in the Stanley H. Durwood Film Vault. The film is that last in a series of documentary screenings on entrepreneurship.

Citizenship Interview Practice
Do you or someone you know need help with a naturalization interview? Head out to the Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library on Monday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for free assistance. Drop-ins welcome, no appointment necessary. Volunteers are now available to help you practice: speaking English (eligibility interview based on N-400 form), reading English (correctly read one out of three Naturalization Test sentences), writing English (correctly write one out of three Naturalization Test sentences), answering civics questions (correctly answer six out of ten randomly chosen USCIS questions), and much more.

Story time at Central Library
Come out to the Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library on Tuesday, April 3 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for story time. Join the library every Tuesday for stories, songs, and plenty of time for play. The library encourages patrons to talk, sing, read, write and play every day, but Tuesdays are special because parking is free!
