Pendleton Heights is kicking off the holiday season with its 5th Annual Holiday Homes Tour.

Six homes are on the tour which will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, from noon to 5 p.m.

“There’s a wonderful feeling the day of the tour,” Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association President Kent Dicus said. “There are people walking on the street that are saying hello to each other that don’t know each other; the homes are beautiful. I can’t think of a better way to promote the neighborhood than to invite people to come and take a look at what we have to offer.”

This year’s homes range from Victorian styles built in the 1880s to a more recent home built in 1924. There’s also two bungalows and some Queen Anne’s. Every home’s first floor will be open to explore and will be decorated for the holidays. All are within walking distance of each other.

“The cool thing is that some of them are original inside. You’ll exclaim over the beautiful woodwork, the polished floors and windows,” Dicus said.

Others look up-to-date, he said.

“You get a real good mix,” Dicus said of the homes on tour. “It’s great because it (tour) builds momentum every year. We have more people come and ask about it.”

Dicus has witnessed residents travel from Lee’s Summit, Liberty, Leawood, Kan., and other surrounding areas for the tour.

In addition to the tour, Pendleton Heights will offer several items for sale, including Pendleton Heights Holiday Homes Tour posters, water bottles and the “Pendleton Heights: Then and Now” book.

To purchase tickets, visit www.pendletonheights.org and click on the Holiday Homes Tour tab. Advance tickets are $10 each. Tickets bought after Nov. 15 are $12 each. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the tour by visiting the tent in the Don Bosco parking lot, 548 Brooklyn Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Tour maps and booklets will also be available at the tent.
