KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Well, that was quick.

The 4th Annual Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association Easter Egg Hunt began just after 10:00 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, April 15 – and it ended just a few minutes thereafter.

Roughly 5,000 Easter eggs were gathered by eager hunters in the short span. The now-annual Easter Egg Hunt is the brain child of Deborah Richardson, who serves as the chair of the event.

“We, didn’t have an Easter Egg Hunt, so one year I decided to do one,” said Richardson. “I bought Easter eggs and candy and prizes, and got a permit, and had an Easter Egg Hunt.”

In addition to candy, participants who found specially-marked Easter eggs were also gifted with special prizes, which included stuffed animals. Richardson says that she’s happy to head the planning for the event because she loves seeing the smiles on the children’s faces.

“The neighborhood is always looking for positive things to do,” said Richardson. “So the more positive things we have, the better come people around, and positive brings positives.”
