Northeast photography exhibit on display at KC Museum
The exhibit Passing Me By: Snapshots of Northeast, 1996 to 2016 will be displayed at the Kansas City Museum (3218 Gladstone) from September 17 to October 15. Through film and digital mediums, Bryan Atkinson seeks to present a vibrant portrait of Kansas City’s Historic Northeast community.

Substance abuse recovery

Mattie Rhodes Center health clinic
The Northeast location of the Mattie Rhodes Center (148 N. Topping) opens its evening health clinic, named La Clinica, every Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. No appointments needed, but care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Kansas City Community Information Exchange
Stop by the Brush Creek Community Center (3801 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd.) from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Thursday, October 13 for a Community Information Exchange. This networking opportunity invites all area residents to bring literature, business cards and promotional items. Chair fitness
Stop by the North-East Library (6000 Wilson Rd.) on Friday, October 14, beginning at 9:30 a.m. for a chair fitness class. No matter what your limitations, you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.

Wizard Rock in Kansas City
Join the Kansas City Public Library’s Central Branch (14 West 10th Street, Kansas City, MO 64105) on Friday, October 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to listen to music for wizards. Tonks & the Aurors is bringing the YES ALL WITCHES Wizard Rock + Nerd Rock tour to Kansas City, so get ready to dance, sing, cast your favorite spells, hang out with your favorite nerds and of course enjoy the library. As always, the show is FREE and for ALL AGES.

Sign up for a free e-mail account and follow along with this tutorial that teaches the ins and outs of sending and receiving email, as well as how to organize your messages. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd.

Northeast Fall Homes Tour
The Northeast Kansas City Historical Society is proud to announce its fifth annual Fall Homes Tour to be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m on Saturday, October 15, 2016. The first floors of five classic houses will be featured on this year’s tour. The destinations were built in the early 1900s and one is a classic example of adaptive reuse of an old fire station into residential living. Advance tickets may be purchased online for the cost of $12 each. Tickets purchased on October 15th will be $15 each. Children under 12 are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. On the day of the Tour, pick up tickets at the Sales Tent at 3241 East Tenth Street, on the southwest corner at Indiana Avenue. KC Museum to open new KCFD exhibit October 15
Beginning on Saturday, October 15, the Kansas City Museum will present In the Line of Duty: A History of the Kansas City, MO Fire Department from 1868-1968, an exhibition that explores stories of courage and dedication that comprise the heritage and development of the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department (KCFD). From its humble beginnings in the late 1800s to international fame, and from technological triumphs to tragic losses, the KCFD has over 100 years of proud service to its community.

Join the Kansas City Public Library’s Central Branch on Tuesday, October 18, beginning at 2:00 p.m. for a crash course in technology. Learn to find the answer to all your technology questions online using these powerful free websites. This class is appropriate for all skill levels from beginner to advanced and covers Lynda, GCFLearnfree, Youtube and much more. Basic computer skills are recommended.

Money Matters: Yes, I AM Janice Brown – Protecting Yourself from Identity Theft
Come by the North-East Public Library (6000 Wilson Road) on Wednesday, October 19 beginning at 9:00 a.m. to participate in this Money Matters course. In this 60-minute workshop, you will learn how to identify the warning signs of identity theft, Protect the identity of your children, and be proactive if you are a victim of identity theft. All attendees will receive a $30 Library fine reduction coupon which can be applied toward fines, or lost/damaged fees.

Knights of Columbus Dinner/Bingo, October 21
Join the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Glennon Council #4613 for Dinner and Bingo on Friday, October 21, at St. Anthony’s – St. Joseph Hall (3208 Lexington). Dinner will be served from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and Bingo will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Enjoy Italian sausage or beef hot dogs on the grill, sandwiches, and a salad. The cost for adults to attend is $6 for the sausage, and $3 for the hot dog. Children under 12 receive $1 off. Coffee will be included; drinks and dessert also available.

Knights of Columbus to host free movie night on October 27
The Knights of Columbus Cardinal Glennon Council #4613 will host a free movie night on Thursday, October 27 at St. Anthony’s – St. Joseph Hall (3208 Lexington). The night will feature a screening of Becket, featuring Richard Burton and Peter O’Toole. Concessions will be available, including popcorn, snacks, hot dogs, nachos and cheese, and drinks. Please do not bring outside food or drinks. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m., and the movie begins at 7:00 p.m.
