KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Historic Kansas City and the Young Preservationists, KC present the second annual Old House Expo.

The Old House Expo will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, at the Kansas City Museum at Corinthian Hall, 3218 Gladstone Boulevard. This one-day event is packed with information and networking opportunities for old-house enthusiasts. Tickets begin at $20 and are available for sale at eventbrite.com. The Old House Expo features on-site exhibitor booths with vendors, contractors, banks, architects, and professional and non-profit services specializing in preserving, restoring, and renovating historic homes. Education sessions will include topics such as window restoration, house maintenance, plaster repair workshop, period paint schemes, and several rehabilitation case studies. In addition, Historic Kansas City volunteers will offer research assistance, enabling attendees to learn more about the history of their homes.

This year, Historic Kansas City welcomes special guest Bernice Radle as its keynote speaker. Radle is the owner of Buffalove Development, host of American Rehab: Buffalo on HGTV and DIY Network and Regional Director for City Dining Cards. Her preservation and rehab work has been featured in media publications such as the New York Times, Atlantic Cities, Huffington Post, TedX and HGTV. She currently serves on the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Buffalo and is an active member of many organizations including the Preservation Right Sizing Network and Buffalo’s ung Preservationists.

Her keynote speech is titled “Preservation 2.0: Combating the Vacancy Vortex.” She will also host a happy hour talk called “Home Rehab Reality TV: Fact vs Fiction” about her experience filming the show. She will also moderate a public forum with experts taking inquiries from the audience about their home rehab needs.

Event sponsors include: Kansas City Museum at Corinthian Hall, MO State Historic Preservation Office, McCray Lumber, The Inn at 425, Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors and Plasterkraft and Mural Masters.

One day before the expo, Historic Kansas City will host a benefit from 6:30 – 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, titled the Grand Old House Showcase: Flappers and Dappers Progressive Dinner. Houses included on the tour are 3400 Gladstone Blvd., 3223 Gladstone Blvd., 3240 Norledge Ave., and The Inn at 425 at 425 Gladstone Blvd.
