Walk with ease club
At 9 a.m. at the North-East Library, this six-week course will teach participants how to walk and stretch safely, increase flexibility, and improve balance. Weekly incentives will be given to participants. Learn how walking can improve your fitness and help manage your arthritis pain.
Kids craft night
Join the North-East Library at 5:30 p.m. to make crafts. Free for children between the ages of 5 – 12 years old.
My Kansas City: the Heritage & Legacy of the Historic Northeast
This exhibition explores the important history of Kansas City’s Historic Northeast neighborhoods and its long-awaited renaissance. As one of Kansas City’s oldest areas, the Historic Northeast’s past includes legendary, lively stories and shared memories of magnates, immigrants, mansions, ethnic businesses, and more. From culturally diverse neighborhoods, active residents, and visionary leaders to iconic monuments and beautiful natural resources, the Historic Northeast has deep historical significance for Kansas City—and the resilience and creativity of its neighborhoods is a beacon for the future. The exhibition is located in the Museum’s Carriage House and is on display through Jan. 16, 2016. Exhibition Tours are free and self-guided from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.

Neighborhood watch training
Join the Indian Mound Neighborhood Association from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Parish Hall at Holy Cross Church 5106 St. John Ave., for the first class in neighborhood watch training. The class will be presented in both English and Spanish.

Chair Fitness
Join North-East Public Library at 9:30 a.m. for physical fitness. No matter what your limitations, maybe you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to give you a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.
Story Time and Craft
Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.

Communiversity Spanish Class Scare-it Halloween
Join the North-East Public Library at 10 a.m. to learn how to speak conversational Spanish.
22nd Annual Scare-It Halloween
From 5 – 8 p.m. on the 3600 block of Gladstone Boulevard, this safe and controlled trick or treat environment for children is located in the Scarritt Renaissance neighborhood of Historic Northeast. There will be several forms of entertainment, from a haunted house, fire dancers, superheroes, Ghostbusters with their Ghostbuster mobile, the KCPD and KCFD and much more. The Kansas City Museum will have the fairy princess costume contest, too. This trick or treat event is free and open to the public. This year, the neighborhood association will offer hot chocolate for sale, courtesy of Eleo’s Coffee. The proceeds from the hot chocolate will go toward continuing this event for future years to come.

Cliffhanger Run
Taking place along scenic Cliff Drive, the annual Cliff Hanger Run’s will start and finish on KCUMB’s campus. Cliff Drive offers a beautiful wooded route for runners and walkers in distances of both 5K and 8K, which begin at 8 and 9 a.m. respectively. After the race, join us at KCUMB for a pancake and egg breakfast.

Join the North-East Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, as Attorneys from Sly James Law Firm — Malik James, Brian Noland, and Jim Breckenridge — offer advice for dealing with legal issues that can have big ramifications on your life and career. This programs take place on Tuesday evenings with the same topic repeated the following Saturday morning.

Curated by Dr. Gene T. Chavez and presented by the Kansas City Museum in partnership with El Centro, Inc., Mexican American Fast Pitch Softball Leagues: Connecting Communities Across State Lines is an exhibition exploring the rich history and legacy of Mexican American fast pitch softball leagues in Missouri and Kansas. This exhibition features a documentary film based on oral histories of former players and items from personal collections including photographs, uniforms, league documents, trophies, and other historical materials. On view from 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14.
