Northeast Farmer’s Market

The Northeast Farmer’s Market will be open Thursdays from June 4 to October 1, at the corner of Independence Avenue and Gladstone Boulevard. They will accept EBT/SNAP and participate in the Beans&Greens program (so $25 EBT + $50 food). Learn more at www.facebook.com/NEKCFarmersMarket.

ESL Class

This workshop would benefit you if you have been diagnosed with a chronic disease, are living with someone with a chronic disease, or taking care of someone with a chronic disease.

Join North-East Public Library at 9:30 a.m. for physical fitness. No matter what your limitations, maybe you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to give you a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.

Story Time and Craft

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.

Dinner and Bingo

Join the The Knights of Columbus #4613 for dinner and bingo from 5 – 9 p.m. Friday, July 3, in the St. Joseph’s Hall at St. Anthony’s Church, 3208 Lexington Ave. Menu includes fettuccine alfredo , salad, Italian bread, dessert and drinks.

KC Riverfest

KC Riverfest is the premiere Independence Day celebration in the region. Located on the Missouri Riverfront at beautiful Berkley Riverfront Park, between the Heart of America and Paseo bridges, KC Riverfest is a celebration of our culture, heritage and country. Mexican American Fast Pitch Softball Leagues: Connecting Communities Across State Lines

Curated by Dr. Gene T. Chavez and presented by the Kansas City Museum in partnership with El Centro, Inc., Mexican American Fast Pitch Softball Leagues: Connecting Communities Across State Lines is an exhibition exploring the rich history and legacy of Mexican American fast pitch softball leagues in Missouri and Kansas.

Opening on the weekend that the 2015 National Conference of La Raza’s (NCLR) annual conference comes to Kansas City, this exhibition features a documentary film based on oral histories of former players and items from personal collections including photographs, uniforms, league documents, trophies, and other historical materials.

On view from July 11 – September 5, 2015. Exhibition tours are free and will be available on the hour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.

Teddy Bear Picnic

To celebrate National Teddy Bear Day, the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Teddy Bear Picnic, from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Friday, July 10, at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd. The party on the front lawn of the Kansas City Museum includes a picnic with your favorite teddy bear, lawn games, face painting and a goody bag.

Thanks to sponsor HealthCare USA, there is no cost to attend the picnic, however, each child must be pre-registered. Attendance is limited to 150, so sign up today. Please email carol.green@kcmo.org with names/ages of children attending and the name of the accompanying adult.

Las Estrellas

Las Estrellas, a Latino band, will perform from 7 – 9 p.m. Friday, July 10, on the grounds of the Kansas City Museum. This is a free concert. Las Estrellas has been performing since 1974 at weddings, quinceaneras, fiestas, and community events. Street parking is available. Accessible parking only will be available in the museum parking lot.
