KANSAS CITY, Missouri — National School Choice Week is Jan. 26-30, and to help mark the celebration, the Kansas City Public Schools is showcasing its new, state-of-the-art facilities built for the KCPS Culinary Arts program at the Manual Career Tech, 1215 E. Truman Blvd.

From noon – 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, the event will include the first opportunity for members of the public to get a glimpse of the new program, while the school also gives tours of the campus and hands out in-depth information about the five programs available at Manual: automotive collision repair, automotive technology, construction technology, healthcare services CNA and culinary arts. Participants will have an opportunity to meet with students who are getting a jump start on their careers, plus hear from Superintendent R. Stephen Green, and Career and Technical Education Director Jack Bitzenburg about why these programs are so important to the entire Kansas City region.

The showcase will end with the unveiling of the regionally unique teaching and learning spaces designed and constructed for the Culinary Arts program. The KCPS has invested in a professional restaurant grade kitchen and coffee house.
