KC Museum Hard Hat Tour

Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the 100+ year old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will also tour the exhibit inside Corinthian Hall: Planning for the Future: Find History at Kansas City Museum. Admission is free and this week’s tours will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 10 a.m. and at noon on Sunday at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd.

Dressing Up in Kansas City: Rites of Passage exhibition

Join the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., for Dressing Up Kansas City: Rites of Passage. The exhibit is available by tours only Wednesday – Sunday, on the hour beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday – Saturday and at noon on Sundays. Admission is free. Through the Museum’s historic clothing and textile collection, it’ll feature artifacts illustrating the various customs of Kansas City’s shared heritage. Birth rituals, wedding traditions and mourning customs will all be highlighted with clothing that helped define each in their own time period. In addition, the exhibition will feature photographs of Kansas City residents all dressed up and documenting each rite of passage that came their way. The exhibit closes Sunday, Nov. 30.

North-East Library

The North-East Public Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, as opposed to its regularly scheduled time of 8 p.m.

Thanksgiving

Kansas City, Mo., offices will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on Nov. 27-28. Also closed for Thanksgiving: the Kansas City Museum is closed Thursday and Friday, the North-East Public Library is closed just for Thanksgiving, and the Jackson County Offices, including both courthouses in Kansas City and Independence, are closed Thursday and Friday.

Story Time and Craft

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.

Sunday, November 30

Sunday Family Movie

Join North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., for its Sunday Family Movie at 1:30 p.m. at the library. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

KC Museum’s Neighborhood Holiday Open House

The Kansas City Museum’s would like you to join them from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, for an open house. There will be holidays sweets, savories and beverages as special guest Irma Starr presents the 2014 Fairy Princesses and Fairy Princess Costume Contest Winners. The Fairy Princess will be spreading holiday cheer at the Museum the first three weekends in December, for $10 per child. Admission to the Neighborhood Holiday Open House is free.

Whatsoever Community Center Holiday Auction

Join the Whatsoever Community Center for its 27th annual holiday auction, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. The night kicks-off with dinner and a silent auction, followed by the live auction at 7:30. The community center is located at 1201 Ewing Ave. The auction benefits the community center’s programs.

Pendleton Heights Holiday Homes Tour

The Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association will host a holiday homes tour from noon – 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, along Independence and Garfield in Pendleton Heights. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. All proceeds benefit Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association and Jerusalem Farm.

Fairy Princess at the Kansas City Museum

Join the Kansas City Museum every Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at noon in December, except on Dec. 27 and 28, for the return of the Fairy Princess. Children will share their holiday wishes with the Fairy Princess while getting their picture taken. They’ll also have the opportunity to make holiday arts and crafts and listen to stories from local storytellers. Visit and picture with the Princess, arts and crafts, storytelling and treats, all for $10.

Guest Pastor at the Sheffield Family Life Center

Worship with the Sheffield Family Life Center as they host one of Americas most dynamic preachers of the day. Pastor Wilfredo (Choco) de Jesus will preside over service at 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 7.The Sheffield Family Life Center is located at 5800 Winner Rd. Childcare will be provided during services for newborn through grade school ages.
