Royals fans filled almost the entire lower level during the team's fan rally.
Kansas City loves its baseball team. Royals fans filled almost the entire lower level during the team’s fan rally.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Even though they came up just short of winning the World Series, the fans were not disappointed.

Throughout Thursday’s fan rally, held at Kauffman Stadium, fans — filling almost the entirety of the lower level — peppered players, coaches, the owner and city and county officials with countless chants of “lets go Royals” and “thank you Royals.”

The free event gave fans and players an opportunity to come together to celebrate the American League Championship and the club’s exciting and memorable run to the World Series. The event was hosted by Fox Sports Kansas City’s FSKC’s Ryan Lefebvre, and feature appearances by General Manager Dayton Moore, Manager Ned Yost, owner David Glass and Royals players and coaches.

Mayor Sly James and Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders thanked not just the players for the team’s outstanding run, but also the residents and fans for their dedication and enthusiasm throughout the season. City Manager Troy Schulte said from lighting the top of City Hall blue, wearing blue on game days and dyeing city fountains blue, Kansas City has enjoyed showing its Royals pride.

“Congratulations on winning the American League pennant and we thank you for the great memories and for bringing so much positive national attention to Kansas City, Missouri,” Schulte said. “On behalf of all the hard working employees of the City, we would like to thank the Kansas City Royals for an exciting season.”
