Area residents will have the opportunity to trade in their unwanted electronics for Kansas City Royals tickets, thanks to Goodwill and the Kansas City Royals.

Goodwill of Western Missouri & Eastern Kansas wants to help reduce, reuse and recycle electronics and has teamed up with the Kansas City Royals and Players for the Planet and for an e-waste recycling drive on Friday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 24.

The two-day event will take place in Overland Park, Kan., on Friday and at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday.  Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie and infielders Mike Moustakas and Chris Getz are scheduled to appear throughout the event. Moustakas is confirmed to appear Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Goodwill truck will be parked at both locations ready to accept electronic donations.

In exchange for recycling e-waste such as computers, small home appliances and used batteries, the first 200 cars at each event will receive two tickets to a Royals game, while supplies last. For a complete list of recyclable items, please visit www.royals.com/battery.  In compliance with R2 certification, all hard drives will be destroyed.
