Northeast resident Eric D. Yeager, 24, who kept police in a more than seven-hour standoff June 13, now has two felony charges stacked against him.
Yeager has been charged with first degree domestic assault and armed criminal action and is currently in custody on a $75,000 bond.
Kansas City Police Department officers received a call about a reported cutting at 2:14 a.m. June 13 and were dispatched to the 3635 Sunrise Dr. residence. When officers arrived, they located the female victim, who had multiple lacerations on her neck and shoulders, police documents stated. The victim told officers that Yeager, the father of her child, had assaulted her.
She stated she awoke to Yeager sitting on top of her in her bedroom, pinning her down with his knees and cutting her with a box knife. When she escaped from his grasp, she ran upstairs to seek help from other family members who were asleep, police documents stated. When she returned to the bedroom, their 4 1/2-month-old son, John Michael Glorioso, was missing and Yeager was gone. Yeager fled the residence in the victim’s father’s Honda CRV. The victim was transported in serious condition to an area hospital.
An Amber Alert was issued and officers later found the unharmed child at a residence near Corrington and 51st Street. The CRV was found nearby. Yeager hid inside a residence in the 5000 block of North Crystal and officers initiated an Operation 100. Officers later arrested Yeager without incident.
