KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Missouri’s Aug. 5, primary will feature five proposed constitutional amendments, as suggested by the General Assembly.
The proposed constitutional amendments are as follows:
House Joint Resolution 11 proposes language that would protect the rights of Missouri farmers in regards to their agricultural production and ranching practices.
Senate Joint Resolution 36 proposes the declaration that the right to bear arms is an inalienable right that the state government is obligated to uphold.
House Joint Resolution 68 proposes a temporary .75 percent tax increase to fund state and local highways, roads, bridges and transportation projects. This change is expected to produce $480 million annually.
House Joint Resolution 48 proposes the creation of a “Veterans Lottery Ticket.” The revenue from the sale of these tickets will go toward funding services and projects for veterans.
Senate Joint Resolution 27 proposes a declaration that people shall be secure in their electronic communications and data from unreasonable searches and seizures.
The proposed changes, announced by Secretary of State Jason Kander earlier this year, will go into effect if they gain a majority of the vote during the Aug. 5 primary election.
