Two men and a woman have been charged with beating two homeless men in the 1100 block of Guinotte Avenue on Thursday, Feb. 9. Each has been charged with first degree assault.
According to court documents, Charity Williams, 25, said victim 1 made comments about her ex-husband, which angered her. Williams yelled at the homeless man and a fight ensued. According to victim 2, Williams began striking victim 1 with her hands and feet and Tyson Burgin, 30, joined in. When victim 2 told them to stop, an unknown suspect knocked him unconscious. When he awoke, he discovered victim 1 on the ground, unconscious and seriously injured.
Williams told police that John Keeley issued the first blow, knocking victim 1 to the ground. When victim 1 refused to leave, Williams said she, Keeley and Burgin began kicking victim 1 in the body and face. Williams called it “blood lust.” Following the assault, they left the victim laying on the ground, she said.
When officers arrived at the scene, they contacted victim 2, who led them to victim 1. Victim 1 was found in a small electrical room, wrapped in bedding that appeared to be soaked in blood. Officers observed that victim 1 had “severe gashes that appeared to be down to the bone.” Victim 1 was transported to an area hospital and suffered from a nasal fracture, orbital fracture, rib fracture and hand/wrist fracture, according to court documents.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $75,000 for Williams, Burgin and Keeley.
