UPDATE: The suspect has now been identified as Todd S. Weber, 38, whose last known address was in Overland Park, Kan.
A section of I-435 was closed for several hours Jan. 15 following a police initiated car chase that resulted in the death of the suspect.
Independence, Mo., police initiated the early morning car chase and used stop sticks on the suspect’s vehicle. However, the male suspect continued to drive at low speeds until he finally stopped on I-435 south of Front Street.
The male suspect was the only occupant in the car and upon exiting his vehicle, he began shooting at police. Officers returned fire, killing the man.
