If you’ve been fortunate enough to pick up a print copy of our paper for the last two weeks, you probably noticed our festive wrap and 2022 calendar.
As we head into this holiday season, the Northeast News is focusing on our community. We’re going into 2022 prioritizing taking care of our neighbors, supporting non-profits when we can, and visiting local businesses.
The following non-profits have supported the Northeast News for years, and continue to be strong community partners:
The Kansas City Museum, which reopened in October following a massive restoration and renovation, is managed by the Kansas City Museum Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Support the museum’s mission as they work on Phase II at www.makingamuseumkc.org/support.
The Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Independence Avenue Community Improvement District and Historic Northeast work hard year round to maintain our business district, provide resources to local small business owners, and spread the word about the International Marketplace.
The Mattie Rhodes Center’s Northeast location on North Topping Avenue is home to many weekly programs like food giveaways, English classes, art programming, resources for families, mental health and crisis intervention, and so much more. The non-profit is supporting those in our community who need the most help, and they need your help. Donate at www.mattierhodes.org/community-support/.
The Salvation Army of Kansas and Western Missouri is part of an international movement whose ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Donations can be made at give.salvationarmyusa.org/give/164006/#!/donation/checkout.
The Northeast News has reported on the Historic Northeast for nearly 90 years. Without charging subscription fees, the locally owned newspaper is supported through small businesses running ads and the support of our generous neighbors. It is important to us to provide our reporting for free to the community we live in, making it available to all. Support us by clicking the pink button on our homepage.
