KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Kansas City, Mo., police spent nearly four hours in the Northeast Sunday morning during a standoff with an area resident.

According to Darin Snapp, public information officer for the KCPD, officers were called to a residence along the 400 block of Drury Avenue in regards to a shots fired report around 8:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, the residents refused to answer the door resulting in the officers executing an Operation 100 — a term the KCPD use in standoff or hostage situations. As officers were staging, four individuals exited the residence without incident. Around noon, during a search of the residence, two adult males were taken into custody. A handgun was located inside the home.

No charges have yet been filed. Snapp said all involved will be interviewed in an attempt to determine what or if any charges will be filed. A witness reported several individuals were intoxicated and a gun was discharged.

The Northeast News will update the story as more information becomes available.
