Apparently the folks on the 22nd and 29th floor of city hall think they’re way smarter than you, Mr. Joe six-pack. That’s why they’re there and you’re where you are, after all, because they’re just so much smarter than us regular folks. Why else would they so arrogantly advance a piece of legislation that’s tied to the construction of a $300 million hotel project that benefits their crony insider deal making friends! Because they know better than you and you better learn to know your role. You, Mr. Joe citizen, need to sit down and take you medicine because the Mayor and his cronies know what’s good for you and you don’t. That’s why we have a toy train streetcar to nowhere. All that talk about infrastructure spending is just a bunch of malarkey. Ever get the feeling you’re reliving the Wizard of Oz? “Pay no mind to the man behind the curtain!”
This fired up newsdog has had enough of the tax and spend mentality and stands with the group Citizens for Responsible Government and the challenge they’re mounting against the Mayor and his rubber stamp council on this hotel project. That challenge just may wind up in a courtroom where a judge could decide on the validity of CFRG’s initiative petition that was filed with the city clerk that would rightfully put the hotel proposal to a public vote.
If all this seems a bit surreal, you’re right. Citizens shouldn’t have to litigate against their own government in order to be afforded rights guaranteed them by the constitution and the city charter. But this is Kansas City and it’s 2015 and that’s how this Mayor runs the show. Because he’s smarter than you after all. Now. Take your medicine.
