Campaign season is upon us folks, so let the mudslinging begin! Most of the ballyhoo though is on municipal elections, not the upcoming August primary election.
This cash savvy canine reviewed, with great interest, Tony’s Kansas City blog last week when local politicos had their campaign war-chest numbers published. It’s not surprising that our gun-grabbing Mayor totaled up more than $300,000 for his re-election bid. This pooch isn’t a fan of his executive rule by fiat nature, jamming a new airport and a streetcar to nowhere down the taxpayers throats while basic infrastructure is largely ignored.
The next biggest winner was Scott Taylor who boasted a little over $100-k in his campaign account. Hard to believe less than 20 years ago this was a $25,000 race. Now it’s almost a requirement to have six figures in the bank before you even get to the starting line.
Councilmen Wagner and Reed both boasted a little over $20-k in their campaign accounts while Fourth District dude Jim “Union Station” Glover had a paltry $600 in his account (yes, he terms out). Even Councilman Michael “I need to resign but I’m not” Brooks scored a little over $1,400 in his account. This news-dog thinks the missing $15,000 (remember that? Where’s Oscoe) needs to be repaid out of personal finances but who’s counting.
Let the politickin begin! And to think, this election isn’t until next spring. It is going to be a long, hot summer of mailboxes full of propaganda.
