KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Two shootings over the weekend marred an otherwise quiet couple of days in the Historic Northeast.
The first occurred in the 400 block of Benton Boulevard on Saturday night. Police were called to a residence there to investigate the sound of shots from inside the home. When they arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound who was later pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown whether the wound was self-inflicted or not.
The weekend’s second shooting occurred on Sunday afternoon around 4 p.m., at a residence in the 300 block of N. Drury. Police were initially called to the area on a sound of shots call about a block away from the residence. Police did an area canvas but found nothing. About an hour later a woman called and reported a man lying on the steps of the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
