Kansas City, Mo., residents will be able to save a little extra money on Energy Star qualified appliances April 19-25 as part of Missouri’s Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday.
During the week of April 19, Energy Star qualified appliances purchased in the portion of Kansas City located in Jackson County will be exempt from state and city sales tax. In addition, purchases made in the portions of Kansas City located in Clay, Platte and Cass counties will be exempt from city, state and county sales tax.
The tax holiday applies to Energy Star qualified appliances valued at $1,500 or less. If an appliance costs more than $1,500, the first $1,500 of the purchase price will be exempt from the applicable sales tax. Qualified appliances include:
• Clothes washers
• Water heaters
• Dishwashers
• Air conditioners
• Furnaces
• Refrigerators
• Freezers
• Heat pumps
There are no limits on the number of appliances that can be purchased and all purchasers are eligible for the sales tax exemptions.
