A host of volunteers and staffers at the Salvation Army Center at 101 W,. Linwood yesterday provided a Thanksgiving feast for the city’s less fortunate and forgotten population. The outstanding weather provided the perfect backdrop for guests and volunteers alike to make sure that the city’s less fortunate got a hot Thanksgiving meal. Kansas City’s favorite native son Carl DiCapo is a regular at these functions and has been for decades. “We’re all family here” DiCapo said as he diligently waited on guests as if he were back at Italian Gardens, the restaurant his family owned for over sixty years. “We just want to make sure these people get a hot meal on Thanksgiving” he added. “You don’t forget family.”
Salvation Army staffers said close to five hundred meals were served at the center on Thursday.
