Kansas City, Missouri — An annual holiday tradition will continue next week, when The Salvation Army hosts its popular Christmas Day Community Dinner.
The dinner will be held from 11 a.m. — 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 25, at 101 W. Linwood in Kansas City. The dinner is free and open to the public. The meal will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and pie. Nearly 150 volunteers will assist with the on-site Christmas Day dinner from set-up to clean-up. Nearly 1,500 people expected to be served.
Also on Christmas Day, more than 100 Salvation Army volunteers will deliver a traditional holiday meal to about 1,000 homebound and elderly individuals in the metropolitan area. All volunteer assignments for the Christmas Day Dinner have been filled.
Major Evie Diaz, divisional commander of The Salvation Army for Kansas and western Missouri, said in a press release that anyone who would like to join the Salvation Army for a, “wonderful holiday meal and good company on Christmas Day is invited to join us.”
