This usually feisty newshound would like to take this opportunity to throw some king size props out to the great folks at the Kansas City Public Library for their hospitality.
Mr. Publisher was hired by the library system to host a series of neighborhood history presentations through the medium of historic postcards. At every branch the red carpet was rolled out and the guests were willing participants, sharing some great memories and experiences from their respective neighborhoods.
Henry Fortunato, the library’s PR guru, and his team in the neighborhood branches are some top shelf folks and run an outstanding resource in our community. Truth be told, if it wasn’t for the library’s Missouri Valley Room and its expansive history files, this history hound wouldn’t be where he is today or have had the wonderful opportunity to share memories and learn history from so many local sources. If you have not had the chance to get to the Central Library and peruse their wares, this old dog would recommend you make the time. Well worth the visit. For the record, the fine folks at the Northeast branch put the shine on this past Sunday, too, being the only branch to offer guests punch and cookies. Saved the best for last!
