Saturday afternoon just after 2:30 p.m., officers were called to the Riverview Gardens Apartments in the 1700 block of East Missouri Avenue to perform a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, an adult female, inside an apartment suffering from apparent trauma. EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel responded to the scene. They processed the scene to recover any evidence and spoke to any potential witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 816-234-5043. If you wish to remain anonymous you can do so by calling the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.

The Kansas City Police Department is working with Partners for Peace in all homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
